for the past few weeks, i’ve been busy preparing to open this (together with one of my dearest friends in the whole wide world, and her hubby)!

but hey, note that an old bag is an old bag, no matter what. whilst we can clean, color and restore as much life as we can back into the bag, it won’t be minty-new unless you go buy a new one, alrighty? ^^

the Louis Vuitton monogram canvas series is a classic line that’s popular with many peeps. these leather items are typically made with the monogram canvas and natural cowhide leather. with time and handling, the handles (that’s where the natural leather is) will become darkened, especially if we keep touching these leather parts with wet hands or with hands that have come into contact with body lotion, hand cream or makeup.

well, short of you going back to LV to have the leather parts replaced, it’s not quite possible to return to squeaky clean condition with even leather tone. but we can, however, try to clean up as much as we can. here are some reference pics of a LV monogram document bag that’s been brought in for us to clean.

YAY! it’s friday and i guess it’s a happy day for most peeps who work five-day week in offices. these days, even working alternate saturdays is more the exception than the norm, ya?

i’ve left the corporate world for sometime now and haven’t really worked normal hours for the past couple of years. unless i’ve appointments or some special work arrangements, i wake up whenever i feel like it most of the time. and hee, when it’s raining, i just sleep in. when i’m in the momentum, i’ll just work on and on; and when i don’t feel like it, i just walk away from work for awhile before resuming work later when the work mood is back.

personally, me thinks that’s the best arrangement for someone like me. haha, a true-blue BLOOD TYPE B, like to do whatever i want to, whenever i want to. something’s urgent when i think it’s urgent, not when you say so. 不太喜欢管人，更不喜欢被人管。

do i miss the corporate life?

yea, occasionally.

some days i do miss having a big office, miss having a secretary or an assistant, miss the six-figure annual package, miss having the perks that usually come along with a senior position in an organization, miss working in a team. some days, i even miss the ‘corporate speak’ and (GASP!) meetings.

but those days are far and in between.

mostly, i’m extremely thankful that i’m able to have my current lifestyle. despite the paycut and i suppose what most peeps think as financial instability, i’m actually grateful i am sorta my own boss and i decide what i do everyday and when i do it.

who’s to say the tried and tested road is always the right one for everyone? who’s to say a fat paycheque is always the answer to everyone’s prayer? who’s to say we should weigh a stable job more heavily than lifestyle freedom? and heck, is it necessarily true that we will be happy (or even happier) with more money?

and do we all have to fit in and be like everyone else? why can’t we choose what we truly wish to do as individuals? are peeps who are not quite the same as everyone else, or who are not doing what the majority of the population are doing, necessarily misfits?

i think most of us have opinions and alot of times, we do know what we wish to do. but sighs, we’re our biggest enemy sometimes, we stop ourselves from doing what we want. and the saddest part about this is there is usually no real reason not to go all out and do what we want. we’re just afraid of failure, and we’re just afraid of what others may say.

but hey, if we think too much, we will end up fearing too much, and yup, then we will be defeated in our heads even before we attempt to do something to do what we want. tsk tsk, sad case, but so very true.

guess i’m opinionated and think too highly of myself.

while i do not think i’m always right, i believe that i know myself best and i’m the best person to make life decisions about myself. and i try really really really hard not to let others’ expectations of me and what others might possibly say get in the way of my dreams, or what i want to do.

this is why i quit corporate life and chose to do something uncertain and yea, what some people might describe as flighty.

this is why i don’t care about others’ expectations… i live in a HDB flat and i take public transport. lord knows how many times relatives and friends have wondered why i haven’t yet bought my private property and gotten a car. aigoo, it’s my money, right? surely it’s up to me to decide what kind of home i wanna stay in.

and harlow, there’s nothing wrong with taking public transport. if, one day, i can’t afford to pay my mortgage instalment or car loan, would these busybodies be helping me to pay? no, right? then why should i even consider what they might say when i decide if i wanna buy public or private housing, or if i wanna take public transport?

my point is… we shouldn’t worry excessively about what others might say when we make our own life decisions. people who truly care for you should care for you, and not for the size of your apartment or the capacity of your car.

i used to be young and foolish too.

i used to carry branded bags, wear branded shoes and i also took taxis everywhere i went. there was a time when i felt more confident and more successful when i had all those brandnames on me. i realise now silly that was. why the hell should i feel more confident and gutsy just because i had all those brandnames on me? did i expect people to respect me more if i proved that i could afford those expensive stuff? what was i thinking? what sort of person was i back then? so shallow and so silly.

now, i believe that my personality is more attractive than the brandnames that i wear, and i do not need any famous designer brands to lift my confidence level.

i try to work hard such that i sparkle as a person, and not my bags, my shoes, my clothes or whatsoever. these days i think this way. whoever judges me based on the brand of my handbag, shame on them. i prefer to hang around peeps who think i’m more interesting than my bags or shoes, hehe!

it’s extremely liberating, this sense of confidence.

don’t get me wrong, i ain’t judging those who do use branded items. and i ain’t saying i don’t like the occasional luxuries. what i’m saying is i refuse to be a slave to material things. i just think it’s more worthwhile to invest in building a better person, than to build a better wardrobe, hee!

i can still remember blogging about HOW MY BESTIES THINK I’M A STRANGE ONE, their ‘argument’ is my lifestyle is so different from everyone else’s. they’d asked me who else do i know who’s actually like me and live like me. errr… okie, okie, i get the drift,

but seriously, WHAT’S WRONG WITH WANTING A SLOW LIFE?

or maybe my besties are right. i mean, which woman would self-proclaim to be a princess at this age? so shameless, haha! but seriously, if you think you are, you are!

the fedex parcel’s from PINKYPARADISE where i’d just ordered circle lens from. i’d ordered grey, brown and pink this time. i love the grey ones and they’re sorta my ‘staple’ lens most days when i’m wearing circle lens.

not my first time ordering the pink ones; i’d already tried pink ones the last time around. hee, don’t get overly alarmed, they don’t actually show up as pink when you wear them, more like a warm brown. can’t wait to try these new lens!

practically just the thing i need right now, so thank you very much! am immensely flattered by your words, and i feel almost shy and definitely ‘paisay’ about your kind words. but i do hope i really am at least 50% of the modern princess idea you’ve described so wonderfully. that’s what i strive and try to be too.

me busy… yea, am practically holding two jobs these days, so been working pretty long hours everyday for the past week and probably abit more.

sure hope it’s ‘good-busy’, keke! wondering how come i didn’t talk about the shop in the previous post? well, renov’s practically completed, but there are a few areas we ain’t exactly happy about. hopefully we can rectify as much as practicable, and ‘write off’ the rest as learning so that we don’t repeat the same mistake in our next shop/s.

so yea, it’s all progressively alright, and our eyes are still on the timeline to open on saturday. will definitely be sharing some pics and info about it really soon. if you’re in SG, come show me some support, ya?

meanwhile, the KHJ fans amongst you would surely have heard that his second solo album Lucky (yea, another mini) will be released 11th oct (tue).

it’s kindda sad that the GD case has seemingly raised such a big ruckus over in korea, especially on cyberspace. AKP even went so far as to pen and publish an ARTICLE WONDERING IF BIG BANG IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE. it’s almost heartbreaking to even entertain that thought for the briefest of seconds.

so has this year been lucky or unlucky for the boys? or will the five-year curse hit them too?

i guess only time will tell, but if you follow BB‘s career, you will realise that these boys never had it easy anyway. yup, it was not a smooth path of roses for them since their debut. plagued with extremely negative criticism and evne being slightly a wee bit ahead of their times in those days… and GD‘s solo album and concert issues back in 2009… and then Dae‘s case a few months back, and now this…

it should be fairly obvious that my bias is TOP. i suppose even if GD does go into some self-reflection break, TOP can always act abit more or something. or hey, release that solo album that we’ve all been waiting for.

i love how he’s reversed the colors such that it’s white logo on black instead of the other way around. gives it a more sombre feel. i can almost feel the weight and density of the black, symbolizing his passing on. i also like how he saw it as apple missing a piece like in a jigsaw puzzle. you can read more about how he’d conceptualized his design HERE.

if you follow my blog, you might know that i’m a mini Steve Jobs fan. love his brilliance, his foresight, his tenacity… even his audacity.

oh ya, so many people were tweeting, posting and reposting his STAY HUNGRY STAY FOOLISH SPEECH AT STANFORD. if you still haven’t watched or read that, i suggest you do. great one, that one.

talking about headline news and staying foolish…

on the other side of the globe, the Kpop world is abuzz with THE NEWS ABOUT GD PUFFING MARIJUANA.

if you’re a VIP, am sure you would know about the haters and stuff by now… an unfortunate case being blown out of proportion, if you ask me.

the earlier news was that the GD&TOP JAPANESE ALBUM was not expected to be affected and could be released in november as planned. but later, YG ANNOUNCED THE CANCELLATION OF THE ALBUM RELEASE.

i suppose the backlash and public reaction over in korea might be alot more heated than we’d reckoned for. but regardless, GD wasn’t officially charged and has been issued with a warning. even the TV stations have said that they’ve no plans to restrict GD‘s appearances on TV. none of the advertisers or brands that GD fronts has contacted YG about cancelling GD out.

so… honestly? i actually think YG should have pressed on ahead with GD‘s activities instead of letting him go on a self-reflection hiatus.

i feel Dae‘s case was different, entirely different, and i agree that his taking some time off from the public eye is probably the best thing to do, best for Dae himself, for BB and for the fans and public. but wit GD‘s marijuana case, the shit would blow over more quickly had they just carried on, me thinks.

despite their runaway success with their fourth mini album, BB does seem to be plagued with quite abit of problems this year, especially concerning their foray into the japanese market. there was the earthquake that halted their concert plans, then there’s Dae‘s case that sorta forced BB to function as four temporarily… and now that it’s almost nearing year end and Dae might rejoin BB come next year, GD‘s case surfaced…

there’s some talk about how this could be a setup, especially since it’s a tip-off.

and of course, there’s talk about how GD‘s case has been used to block out political scandals and other ‘national complications and challenges’. am talking about wanting the media to highlight and spotlight GD‘s case and let it overshadow the other political issues. shrugs, i’ve no idea what’s what, who’s wrong and who’s not.

don’t get me wrong. i ain’t saying GD’s right or anything.

if he were telling the truth, then he oughta be more careful about accepting ciggies from strangers. if he were lying and it wasn’t his first time puffing the weed, then he really should have been more careful since he’s actually a public figure who’s a role model to young people. i respect that it’s his life and his personal choice what he wants to do, but we can’t deny the fact that the public has certain expectations. whether rightfully so or not is beside the point.

(personally, i’m of the view that idols cannot be blamed for any young person’s failing in life. we’re all responsible for ourselves and when young, family and school play a part in cultivating the right value system in us. so don’t go blaming the media, the idols or the government when kids go astray. parents and teachers should shoulder as much responsibility, if not more…)

anyway, i only hope GD, the other BB members and also the fans will be strong enough to ride this through and come back stronger.

haiyo, you obviously don’t follow Big Bang, ya? Dong Yong Bae, that’s Taeyang. yup, even before there’s BB, there’s GDYB. these two joined YG since years and years ago when they were really little. the other members were sorta recruited and signed subsequently to form a group with GDYB.

i also like what i suspect is a sensitive soul and an innocent heart inside this man whose outward appearance is so masculine that’s he’s practically oozing raw sensuality. read THE STORY BEHIND OH MOM? i truly believe that he’s a sensitive one inside. the sharp contrast of a marshmallow-soft inside vis-a-vis such a manly face and husky voice is just amazingly attractive to me, haha!

and mind you, this is a young man who reads and who writes poetry!

sometime back, i also happened to watch that very old edition of Come to Play where TOP had appeared in. GD was on that show too.

he’d spoken about his ex-girlfriend and stuff. in time, through various interviews and all that, i came to understand his thought process alittle better. ahhh, so he’s the sort who’s fiercely protective of people he loves, especially if he’s not dating a celebrity, he’s the sort who will try his darnedest not to let his girlfriend get hurt, and try his darnedest not to violate her privacy.

here, watch this. it’s a TOP-cut (haha, sounds like some top-grade meat!) from that Come to Play epi where he spoke about his first love. the second half of the clip is his live performance of Act Like Nothing is Wrong, a song he’d penned for is ex-girlfriend. great one, that one. i’ve always enjoyed that song and that particular performance.

yup, TOP (alongside GD) is the rapper of the group. but even before joining YG, he was already rapping and all. hiphop was in his blood from as early as his teens, i’d say. he used to perform at underground clubs in his pre-BB days, but he went by the name of TEMPO.

here’s an interesting clip whereby they interviewed his hyungs from those early days. the part where one of them mentioned about TOP calling him up after the release of Lies and sharing how and why he started to collect toys was kindda painful though. me wonders if he still feels as lonely these days.

he’s really quite a complex one. totally grown-up looks that scream of raw masculinity and yet inside lies such a sensitive soul… but he’s also ultra playful! in fact, he’s the clown in the group!! can’t quite believe it, ya? but it’s true!

remember i had a very bad SWOLLEN EYE? i showed my closer friends a few photos that ‘ain’t fit for public consumption’, and they were all shocked at how bad the situation really was. yup, there’re a couple more photos of my eye that truly showed how incredibly swollen it was. haha, my other bestie Rene even commented that i looked like i was beaten up or punched by someone.

anyway, i actually found out the cause of the swelling!!

i wanna share with you all so that no one needs to make the same (ultra painful) mistake that i made. and oh, it was maknae who actually brought light to it coz her friend once nearly used her brother’s contact lens solution wrongly or something.

ever noticed that most of the contact lens solution in the market have blue (or close-to-blue) packaging?

what happened was i ran out of travel-sized contact lens solution (yea, i’e a habit of keeping travel-sized toiletries at home coz i used to travel quite abit) and went to get some just a couple of days before the F1 concert two fridays ago.

i was (and still am!) going through a rather crazy-busy period, so i just popped into the local pharmacy, grabbed something that looked like contact lens solution, paid and left. what i bought was very similar to what i’ve always bought. it’s from CibaVision, a brand that i’m familiar with, and i’d bought something that came with one regular-sized solution and two travel-sized ones.

didn’t open the regular-=sized one yet since i haven’t run out at home. but i packed one of the travel-sized ones into my overnighter and off i went to meet Tigger on the day of the F1 concert. and i guess you already know what happened that night.

aigoo, turns out that what i’d bought wasn’t the usual contact lens solution. this was what i’d bought.

this is the AO SEPT PLUS DEEP CLEANSING SOLUTION, not to be confused with the regular contact lens solution.

the difference? the deep cleansing solution contains un-neutralized hydrogen peroxide that is a very very strong disinfecting solution that will sting (and swell!!) your eyes!!

you see, this deep cleansing solution requires a special process to neutralize the hydrogen peroxide, so you can’t actually just rinse your lens with it and insert your lens back into your eyes. i did exactly that, and i did that a f few times too! i even used normal containers to store the lens in the un-neutralized solution, and nope, i didn’t wait the minimum waiting time of six hours too.

yup, i was actually putting un-neutralized hydrogen peroxide, the very strong disinfectant, into my eyes repeatedly! that was what caused my swelling. (neutralized hydrogen peroxide is safe for the eyes, just for the record…)

you see, this deep cleansing solution uses a special receptacle to hold the lens and we need to allow the solution to soak for at least six hours to neutralize the hydrogen peroxide before the lens become deeply cleansed and can be worn again.

so please… if you wear contact lens too, please do not make the same mistake that i did, and read carefully before buying any blue-looking thing that looks like normal contact lens solution.

that said, i do recommend using this deep cleansing solution on your lens once a week as it does a really decent job in deep cleansing. after i realised my booboo, i read the instructions carefully and cleansed my lens with the deep cleansing solution properly and do find that the lens feel cleaner and vision seems abit clearer too.

anyway, naega jinjja pabo!

we’re planning to open this coming weekend…

flooring’s mostly completed yesterday. the contractor couldn’t work today works could not be carried out on sundays since there’s a hotel adjourning these commercial units. hopefully there’s enough time this coming week to complete the renovation for us to soft-open this weekend.

from the look of things, believe we’re gonna be pretty busy this coming week. but i’m kindda excited that things are really taking shape and with the shop unit progressively taking shape these days, it really really really feel alot more real now, hehe!

counting down to weekend!!

if all goes well, JO and i should be embarking on our new work project fully by the end of next week.

yea, it’s getting real…!

gosh, it’s just about a week away and haha, the site hasn’t even started to take shape much. yup, our new business venture involved opening a retail shop. we only just about finalized the floorplan last night… and there’re still lots of loose ends and stuff. think we’ll be able to open by end of next week?

yup, think so.

i’m the sort who believes that most things are possible; it’s just a matter of how badly we want it. while i fully believe that it’s possible, i also foresee a rather hectic week ahead. just hope most things (yea, i’m pragmatic enough to know and accept that sh*t happens) will be smooth and whatever obstacles can be overcome in a timely and hopefully cost-effective manner.

spent the first half of today working on my ‘day job’… in case you still haven’t figured it out, i’m a social media consultant. the afternoon, evening and night were spent looking at and choosing stuff for the shop. stuff like tiles for the flooring, furniture and yea, stuff.

last stop was Ikea Tampines and we also spent the most time there. hehe, our ‘loot’…

i actually hope to blog ‘properly’ about the entire process of preparing for the opening of our (little!) shop, so on and so forth. but am still undecided in what format and platform i wanna approach it, like do i just wanna share randomly here on my personal blog, or do we actually want to create a blog for the business. so until i figure that out, will just share snippets of my days (and yea, nights too, keke!) here, ya?

of course, the ever-impractical me wore high heels today. not even wedgies, mind you. by 8pm, my feet were really sore from all the walking. man, Ikea Tampines is pretty big!

whilst waiting for the counter staff to process our delivery request, i just had to relieve my poor feet for the briefest of moments.
